Writer's picture: The Mick Schafer BandThe Mick Schafer Band

"You've got to learn your instrument. Then you practice, practice, practice. And then, when you finally get up there on the bandstand, forget all that and just wail." Charlie Parker

Feels so good playing with a whole band again!

We've had the 12 inch vinyl dream for a while and here it is! Soon to be released at the Portland party on October 3rd at At The Garages Satellite Pub and the Vancouver party on October 7 at the Brickhouse Bar & Grill Back to the Blues baby.

Two songs are dropping today at Lightning in the Bottle from our new record, Back the Blues. One written before Covid19 (Rich Boy) and one very recently (Over in the Corner.) Rich Kid says we gotta do blues. Over in the Corner says why. Streaming and Downloads are available at this link https://bit.ly/3yOnKvz

A little #feelgoodfriday an fun at our outdoor show at Washington Heights Thursday Night Market yesterday. Here's a clip of Kevin Schultz solo in Enough.

A little #wednesdaywisdom from Steven Tyler, “Blue is the closest color to truth.”

"The sound and energy they (Mick Schafer Band) created blew the audience away. Immediately folks were dancing and I had multiple people asking who this new group was!" Lyra O'Brien organizer for Washington Heights Neighborhood Association. Here's a free sample of a danceable tune just released this week: Don't Wanna B Judged

Our CD release inventory arrived today at Lightning in a Bottle. Can't wait to do those release shows!

"I need the love and the truth for a good relationship." Mick Schafer

Excitement is in the air and this beautiful guitar is being polished for two shows in the Portland area happening the first week of October. Guitar nerds? This is a Epiphone Joe Pass Emperor 2.

Two more relationship songs are getting released today at https://www.lightninginabottlerecords.com/music

"She Woke Up" is about a woman leaving a bad relationship and "Husband Blues" is about a guy on his way out.

My life on the other hand is full of Happiness and Adventure!!

A little Wednesday Wisdom from Koko Taylor, "Blues is my life. Its a true feeling that comes from the heart, not just something that comes out my mouth."
